Twin town rosazza

The twinning between Rennes-le-Château, in France, and Rosazza, in Italy, is a unique alliance uniting two villages steeped in mystery, history, and symbolism. Officially sealed in April 2023, this partnership is based on the striking similarities between these two locations nestled in mountainous landscapes.

Villages united by mystery and history
Rennes-le-Château, perched in the Aude department, is famous for the enigmas surrounding Abbot Bérenger Saunière, who allegedly discovered a mysterious treasure in the 19th century. This legend has attracted treasure hunters and esoteric enthusiasts from around the world.

For its part, Rosazza, nicknamed “the pearl of the Biellesi Alps,” is an Italian village rich in Masonic symbols and enigmatic architecture, a legacy of Senator Federico Rosazza, who profoundly influenced its development in the 19th century.

Both villages share a fascination with mystery, symbolism and the esoteric, as well as a history marked by emblematic figures who have left a lasting mark on their heritage.

A Symbolic Ceremony
The official twinning ceremony took place in Rennes-le-Château in April 2023, attended by Mayors Francesca Delmastro delle Vedove and Alexandre Painco, as well as numerous residents and guests. The festivities included the reading of the charter, speeches, the exchange of regional products, and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the entrance to the village. An olive tree was also planted at the belvedere, located at the top of the village, symbolizing the desire of both communities to see their partnership flourish in the future.

A Promising Alliance
The twinning between Rennes-le-Château and Rosazza illustrates how villages, although geographically distant, can come together thanks to shared histories and aspirations. This alliance promises to boost the cultural and tourist life of both communities, while celebrating their rich heritage and shared passion for mystery and history.
