Open-Air Exhibition All Year Round<\/p>\n

Mayor Alexandre Painco and the municipal council invite you to discover the works of Zimmermann Urs, a former resident of Rennes-le-Ch\u00e2teau, displayed throughout the village and in the Abb\u00e9 Sauni\u00e8re Domain Museum.<\/p>\n

Born on May 11, 1954, in Zurich, Switzerland, Urs spent his childhood and adolescence in Uster, Switzerland, and pursued his education at the Zurich School of Art and the Budapest Academy of Sculpture. He began his career with wood sculpture and later perfected his craft in stone sculpture in Viterbo, Italy (Etruscan quarries in Viterbo and Sicily). In Zimbabwe, he learned to sculpt serpentine in Tengenege from local sculptors, which was a significant period in his life.<\/p>\n

In 1990, he settled in Rennes-le-Ch\u00e2teau at a place called “Prat du Juge.” For Urs, stones were like living beings. He could see into their souls and thus liberate them through sculpture. He was known as the “seer of stones,” capable of sensing the energy flow between the stone, man, and his environment. Influenced by yoga and geomancy, he developed his unique style over the years. Urs passed away on April 25, 2022, at the age of 67. His strong and intense works remain alive in Rennes-le-Ch\u00e2teau.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

New lecture series for this summer 2025, from July 5th to August 31st, at the Capitelle Hall in Rennes-le-Ch\u00e2teau.<\/strong><\/p>\n

21 lectures\/21 authors<\/strong> and a roundtable discussion will be offered.<\/p>\n

Practical information to remember: lectures begin at 4 p.m. sharp, and the hall opens 30 minutes before the start of the lectures.<\/p>\n
