The "Dalle des Chevaliers"
Discovered on the site of the former altar, its interpretation is the subject of multiple investigations. The slab was put upside down. Initially this was a bas relief plaque chancel, an element of fence which separated the heart of the nave. These plaque chancels appeared at the time of Charlemagne.
The 8th century Visigothic Pillar
There are several legends about the pillar. Knowing that there were two places of worship on the site: a chapel, the current Ste Madeleine church, and a church which no longer excists today. This church was dedicated to St Peter, a saint who in memory of Christ refused to be crucified head up, and asked to be crucified upside down. The cross dedicated to St. Peter is therefore reversed.
