Area: 1700 hectares of woodland, moors and fields suitable for hiking and horse riding.
In Couiza you take the winding road up the hill, and after 4,5 km you will find the village. The village lies perched on a rock and is a balcony with an impressive view, which embraces the entire horizon.

In the East lies la Maurine Coume Sourde, Ribambelle, La Valdieu, in the south-east lies Les Labadous and Le Carla; these clusters of houses with evocative names are part of the municipality. They are connected by roads suitable for hiking and equestrian trails, enjoying the landscape with every step you take.
Given its situation, it is not surprising that Rennes-le-Château has become the focal point of a perimeter of "defensive castles" and was quickly transformed into a "natural oppidum". In a much older time, wasn't it perhaps an acropolis or a place of worship? Only a scientific and archaeological approach will lift the veil.
For all tourists, and for the benefit of the inhabitants:
All cars will be prohibited within the village from 1 July 2010 to 31 August 2010.
Just outside the village there are several parkings to park your car.
Only disabled people with their card fixed behind the windshield, will have access to the village and they can park on the places which are reserved for them.
Thank you for your understanding.
